Your child may be sent home from school should an emergency occur, for example failure of the school’s heating plant in winter. In very stormy weather or in the event of heavy snowfall, we may dismiss early to allow children to return home before bad road conditions or deteriorating weather make walking home unsafe.
In these instances we would Groupcall all parents initially and then try and make contact by telephone, getting in touch with your designated emergency contact as required.
Parents should note that the Head Teacher has total discretion as to the closure of the school when they anticipate that conditions would place children and staff at risk. The school may also be closed due to staffing as some of our team live outwith Aberdeen City and may have difficulty with travel into the city on account of the inclement weather.
In the event of an Emergency Closure, North Sound radio will be contacted to help relay information to parents.
