At Kittybrewster, we want our pupils to succeed as successful learners and to benefit from the opportunities that are available from attending school.
Any child who is late should enter via the main school door at the front of the building and register with the office. They will be issued with a Late Pass to hand into their class teacher. Lateness causes disruption to both the pupil concerned and the members of their class. Lesson outlines and expectations are covered at the start of the school day and important learning is often missed due to being late for school.
Patterns of persistent lateness are monitored and a letter will be sent home to alert the parent/carer to the situation.
By law, all children are required to attend school and it is the parent/carer’s responsibility to meet this obligation. Aberdeen City Council have official procedures in place which are followed in the event of non-attendance. Attendance records which fall below 80% and whereby no valid explanation is in place to support the absence, are passed to the Home School Liaison Officer to follow up.
Attendance is monitored regularly to identify any issues and to put in place any support which may be required.
If your child is absent from school, please contact the office, ideally before 9.30am.
Any child having to leave school to attend an appointment during the school day must be collected by a parent/carer from the front office. We respectfully ask you to provide as much notice as possible.
